Support Sea Shepherd
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.
Sea Shepherd could not think of a more brave, passionate and dedicated activist and friend of the whales, than Isabel Lucas, also known for her role in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Isabel has stepped up for duty for the oceans numerous times, including raising international awareness by attempting to stop annual slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan in 2007.
"When you're 10 years old, you're at an impressionable age and a lot of life lessons are subconscious. Kakadu was a unique experience and I think that's where I developed a very real connection to nature.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has teamed up with Discovery Networks’ Animal Planet’s “Whale Wars” to commence the “Operation No Compromise” cause and raise funds and support. On the evening of Oct. 23, James Costa’s eco-friendly Hollywood Hills Estate hosted a celebration featuring Captain Paul Watson, president of Sea Shepherd Society and the star of “Whale Wars.”
The event introduced “Operation No Compromise” to the public, as well as the celebrity guests who attended, including Michelle Rodriguez (“Avatar”), Isabel Lucas (“Transformers”), Taylor Armstrong (“Real Housewives Beverly Hills”), Beau Bridges (“Stargate”), Perrey Reeves (“Entourage”), Daryl Hannah (“Kill Bill”), Vincent De Paul (“Mad Men”), Emrhys Cooper (“Mamma Mia”) and Ken Jordan (“The Crystal Method”).
Watson also unveiled the newest interceptor vessel, which is set to join the fleet in Antarctica this winter, which has already saved 528 whales last year. According to the Conservation Society, “this year’s mission will be the boldest crusade to send the whalers home empty handed.”
In 1977, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was established to rid the planet of the destruction and slaughter of wildlife in Earth’s eco-systems. The International non-profit is consistently making strides to benefit the oceans, an enormous part of the world’s primary eco-system.
Airing weekly on Fridays at 9 p.m. EST, reality TV show “Whale Wars” follows Watson as he works with a full crew to stop Japanese ships that hunt whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.
“We are confident that with your help, we will see our most effective campaign ever with ‘Operation No Compromise,’” states the Society’s official website. “Our ships, the Steve “DJ” Michelle RodriquezIrwin and the Bob Barker, are currently being prepared for the campaign. We have recruited the best crew we can assemble. Our only challenge now is to raise the funds for the Ocean Adventurer.”
Rodriguez served as the event’s DJ, and the actress will appear on Season 4 of the acclaimed television series, as she has joined the mission. For more information, visit www.seashepherd.org.
The Huffington Post have an article on renowned surfer Kelly Slater voicing his opposition to the horrific Japanese dolphin slaughter, and at the end of the article they list the things you can do to support the cause. We all know Isabel’s passion for this cause, so I thought I’d post the list as a reference in case any of our visitors want to lend their support:

First off, I have to apologise for the lack of updates here! As I mentioned before, I was having some computer and internet troubles for a few weeks, and since getting that all fixed I just hadn’t been able to get around to catching up with everything here. Until now! And there is a lot to catch up on, as Isabel was quite busy last month!
I’ve now added over 200 photos (many of which are in HQ) from the events Miss Lucas has attended in the last month, including the premiere of her good friend and ex-boyfriend Adrian Grenier’s new project, and PETA’s 30th Anniversary. Isabel looks typically lovely at them all, but I particularly like her Teenage Paparazzo premiere outfit and her dress at the PETA Anniversary, a look which is definitely my favourite so far of 2010! I love her hair, make-up and dress here, and as well as that, I think she looks so much more comfortable in front of the cameras than she has done at other events. So, get browsing and enjoy the photos!! Candids photo catch-up coming next…
(This was a private event so I don’t think there are any photos available!)
Sea Shepherd Conservation International is hosting the Los Angeles Night for the Oceans on October 23 to benefit the organization’s efforts to “defend, conserve, and protect the seas.”
On hand at the event will be Captain Paul Watson, Michelle Rodriguez, The Crystal Method, Flea, Isabel Lucas, Daryl Hannah, Beau Bridges, Kristin Bauer, Emily Deschanel in addition to the Whale Wars crew.
A special announcement is expected as Sea Shepherd reveals details of the new interceptor vessel that will be joining the fleet during its upcoming campaign in the Southern Ocean dubbed Operation No Compromise.
Typically the event is by invitation only but this year the Sea Shepherd set aside 25 tickets on a first come first serve basis which can be obtained by supporters.
ALEC BALDWIN, ANJELICA HUSTON and KELLAN LUTZ are among the stars who have signed a petition urging MCDonald’s bosses to adopt a less cruel chicken slaughter method.
The trio was among the stars who agreed to be part of the PETA 30th anniversary petition.
The stars want MCDonald’s chiefs to heed the advice of the company’s own advisory board and switch to the much less violent chicken slaughter method that MCDonald’s already uses in Europe.
According to PETA, MCDonald’s U.S. suppliers cut chickens’ throats while they are conscious and scald birds to death in defeathering tanks.
The celebrities who signed the petition also include Isabel Lucas, Olivia Munn, Eli Roth, rockers Iggy Pop and Dave Navarro and longtime PETA supporter Pamela Anderson.
ACTRESS and conservationist Isabel Lucas supports rezoning the Coral Sea as a marine park, saying it would provide a “wonderful ocean legacy”.
While opponents say rezoning the Coral Sea would cost hundreds of jobs, Lucas says the time for compromise has passed.
“Protecting the Coral Sea as one very large marine park would be a wonderful ocean legacy for future generations in Cairns,” she told The Weekend Post.
“I believe in compromises and understand that change can feel threatening, but how can we suggest a compromise when there is the fact that 90 per cent of the world’s ocean fish have disappeared in the last 50 years and when at the current rate of overfishing, it is forecast that global fisheries will collapse in less than another 50 years?
Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett last month proposed one million sq km of the Coral Sea be declared a marine park.
Ms Lucas said the proposal was “inspirational”.
“It’s an iconic place, with beautiful coral reefs and healthy populations of marlin, tuna and sharks – fish that are under so much pressure elsewhere,” she said.
Mr Garrett last week deferred the proposal until after the election. Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has said he would put a freeze on all marine parks.
PETA Asia-Pacific have launched their annual Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity contest on their web site PETAAsiaPacific.com and Isabel Lucas is in the running for the title of Australia’s Sexiest Vegetarian. You can view the contest (and vote!) RIGHT HERE.
Fads are a dime a dozen among red carpet regulars, but being vegetarian is one Tinseltown trend that won’t be fading away any time soon! More and more stars are taking on a new role—as models for a compassionate, healthy, and Earth-friendly lifestyle.
As reported, the MTV documentary of the SOTSK climb aired on Sunday night, and thanks to the awesome Kimberly we have exclusive videos of the show! Today I have added screencaps from the 1st half of the show, and the 2nd batch will follow over the weekend. So far the documentary is really interesting – it’s fascinating seeing the landscape of Mt Kili and seeing how they all cope and are affected by the climb, and quite inspiring to hear them talk about what they’re doing and how passionate they are about it. Plus, there’s the sweetest quote about Isabel from Kenna:
“Isabel Lucas is like family to me. Even though she’s been in some big action movies she’s really a gentle soul, who’s totally in touch with herself and nature.” – Kenna
Videos will be added when our Video section is started.
The Pacific also aired on Sunday night, but I don’t think Isabel appeared in this episode. And from the sounds of this article, it seems she may only appear in the 3rd episode, or at least, the majority of her part is in that episode. I’ll keep you posted…
Tonight is a TV feast for Isabel fans in the US! The Pacific and the Summit On The Summit documentary both air tonight. Make sure you set your TIVO/DVD recorder for these two big TV events in Isabel’s career.
