She made her name in Hollywood as Alice in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Her mosr recent film is Daybreakers and Lucas plays the lead role in the upcoming Gale Edwards-directed movie A Heartbeat Away. She has also major roles in Kin, Red Dawn and, alongside Mickey Rourke and John Hurt, in Immortals. “There’s no easier way to put passion in your life than to put passion in your diet”, says PETA Asia-Pacific director Jason Baker. “Going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth and your health. Plus, there’s no easier way to stay slim and sexy and Isabel is living proof of that.” |

The story behind the video The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is proud to announce the Australian launch of our new “Save the Whales” public service announcement (PSA) featuring renowned actress Isabel Lucas. The announcement is work of Melbourne advertising agency Starship who approached Sea Shepherd with the concept for the awareness campaign. Starship’s Managing Director Geoffrey McDonald Bowll said his team felt compelled to support Sea Shepherd’s work protecting the oceans. Starship wanted to design, build and promote a PSA for Sea Shepherd to raise much needed funds to shut down whaling in Australia’s Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, said Geoffrey. |

A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes to Isabel and the Summit On The Summit team who today reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, in their quest to raise awareness of the global water crisis! They reached the massive height of 19,340ft. Photos, tweets, info etc are available in the usual places, linked in previous updates. Once again, a big congratulations to Isabel and the team – I’m so proud of her for doing this and I admire her even more for it. She really is an inspiration! Hopefully the efforts of her and the team will have a positive effect and more attention can be directed at helping to solve the water crisis. Remember that you can do your bit by sponsoring a foot (I think it’s still possible to do that, even now they’ve reached the summit) – just $2 can provide 5 days worth of clean water for someone. Just visit the official site to sponsor and find out more. ![]() |

Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Isabel Lucas trudged through a blizzard Monday on the fifth day of their hike with other entertainers and activists up 19,340-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro. “It’s pretty gnarly,” Elizabeth Gore, an executive with the United Nations Foundation, and one of the participants of the trek to raise awareness of global water issues, tells PEOPLE by satellite phone. “The visibility is only 10 feet in front of you. And it’s cold. I’ve got six layers on.” With just a day left of climbing before hitting the summit of the Tanzanian mountain, the group reached 16,000 feet, causing many to experience headaches and stomach problems due to the high altitude. “We’re on the hardest route at the fastest pace, but no one has turned back,” she says. “It’s pretty kick ass that all of the climbers have made it all the way. We’re all trying to help each other get to the top.” |

In a timely show of support, Hollywood star and anti-whaling activist Isabel Lucas has recorded a new ad for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society encouraging people to donate to the group. The ad is scheduled to air on Australian television networks tonight. Sea Shepherd’s Australian director Jeff Hansen told The Daily Telegraph that the ad was filmed in Melbourne last winter but needed a high-profile supporter to do a voice-over and appear at the end. “Isabel was out here late last year and appeared on Rove and said she would love to support us,” he said. Hansen added that the ad had not cost the group “a cent” – because Lucas and its creators had given their time for free. The 24-year-old actress is currently with Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch, and other celebrities on a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of the worldwide water crisis. |

Procter & Gamble’s (NYSE: PG) PUR Water Filtration announces it is joining forces with some of the hottest names in the music and entertainment industries, and other cultural influencers to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness about the need for clean drinking water in the developing world and funds for life-saving water programs. For years, PUR and its charity partner the Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program have worked together to make sure that children around the world have clean water to drink. It was because of this expertise that PUR was invited to join SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro which includes actors Jessica Biel and Isabel Lucas, and musician Kenna. The PUR team was first approached to join SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro by creator and Grammy-nominated artist, Kenna. As a child in Ethiopia, Kenna’s father nearly lost his life after contracting a water-borne disease from drinking contaminated water. This motivated the singer to organize the upcoming SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro climb in the hopes of raising worldwide awareness about the critical need for clean drinking water. “It only makes sense to partner with PUR Water Filtration brand for SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT,” said Kenna. “PUR is a part of the solution both domestically and abroad. I am thankful to have such generous and focused partners for SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT. Together we will bring awareness to the global clean water crisis and save lives.” Kenna has enlisted a number of other celebrities to help shine the spotlight on this effort, scheduled to take place at the beginning of January 2010. Also joining the 19,340-foot mountain climb will be Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco and other cultural influencers and water educators, with additional climbers planning to sign on over the next few months. Dr. Greg Allgood, Founder and Director of the CSDW Program, will also be joining the climb as one of the SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT team’s water experts. He’ll lend his vast expertise and educate the climbers about the global water crisis along the steep journey. |

New Australian feature The Waiting City is set to make a splash at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. The film as directed by young Australian filmmaker Claire McCarthy, whose previous credits include Sisters and the feature film Cross Life, starring Paul Caeser and Tony Barry. The Waiting City is a definite step up for McCarthy in terms of her cast’s notoriety, with such big Australian names as Radha Mitchell, Joel Edgerton and Isabel Lucas starring. It also has the unique distinction of being the first Australian film to be shot entirely in India. The Waiting City follows the story of a young, seemingly happy couple travelling to Kolkata to finalise the adoption of an Indian child. However, whilst on the unfamiliar, intoxicating streets of a new city they start to drift apart from one another, the vulnerability of their marriage eventually revealing itself. It is a complex love story set against the epic backdrop of the bustling, historical city of Kolkata. The Waiting City has been selected as a part of the TIFF’s Special Presentation section, a distinction usually reserved for older, more experienced filmmakers, which shows just how impressed the Toronto programming team is with the film. This fact will go a long way to distinguishing Claire McCarthy as an elite film director. The Waiting City was developed in association with the former Australian Film Commission’s INDIVISION program and was financed by Screen Australia, the new Producer Offset, Spectrum Films, Efilm, Exodus and the NSW Film and Television Office. Radha Mitchell is also an Executive Producer. The Waiting City joins other Australian films Bright Star, Mao’s Last Dancer and The Boys are Back at the festival. All films will be released by Hopscotch in the coming months. The Toronto International Film Festival runs from 10th-19th September. TIFF Links: |

ISABEL Lucas has taken a leaf out of Lara Bingle’s books and starred in an Australian tourism campaign. Yet while Lucas is a rising star in Hollywood, recently stealing the limelight from her Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen co-star Megan Fox, she’s become the face not of the whole country but of the Victorian resort town of Daylesford. The campaign, which hits TV screens tomorrow, comes with a $7million price tag but there is no word yet on how much of that was needed to secure the LA-based star. While here she spent time getting cosy with Joel Edgerton. |
