Below are a couple of new articles about ‘The Wedding Party‘ – no real new details, but in the 2nd article the festival director confirms that all members of the cast will be present at Opening Night, so we can look forward to new photos of Isabel on the red carpet on July 22nd!
Isabel Lucas Gets Married At Melbourne Film Fest
Isabel Lucas will be gliding down the aisle wearing white for the opening of this years Melbourne International Film Festival. Australian director, Amanda Jane, is opening the Festival with her debut feature film ‘The Wedding Party’, starring Lucas and a fantastic Australian cast including Josh Lawson, Steve Bisley, Kestie Morassi and Bill Hunter.
‘The Wedding Party’ is your classic tale of boy-meets-girl: The boy is Steve (Lawson) who makes a deal to wed a beautiful Russian immigrant seeking residency (Lucas) in exchange for a considerable sum of money. When his family get wind of the wedding plans, shit gets festive and he gets sucked into a wedding extravaganza. Cue wedding dress gags, inevitable cross-cultural misunderstandings and classic comedic slapstickery. It sounds like a fun romp – which will be a nice foil to the recent slate of brilliant but bleak Australian cinematic efforts (‘Animal Kingdom’, ‘Beautiful Kate’, etc). The film was made and shot in Melbourne, and the soundtrack also keeps it local with tunes by Melbourne-based musicians J. Walker of Machine Translations and Clare Bowditch.
Offering up a tantalising selection of 240 films from over 50 countries, this years MIFF is sure to satisfy the craving of any film junkies out there. For the old school connoisseurs there will also be a screening of Hitchcock’s classic mystery ‘Psycho’ screening in the Regent Theatre, with Bernard Herrmann’s famous score performed live onstage by The Bates Motel Orchestra. Amazing.

After the bad stuff I had to post about yesterday, I promised another Gallery update for you today, and I’ve found some great stuff for you! First up, I’ve added 2 older sets of candids, one from 2009 that I’d never seen before, and another from 2008 that I’d only seen with massive watermarks on them. Both of these sets are in HQ. I’ve replaced one of our most viewed photos, from Unknown Date [1] candids, with a HQ version and added another new HQ in there, and also added another new and rare photo from the set of Daybreakers.
And finally, I’ve come across the first two stills from The Wedding Party (previously known as Kin) and added them to the Gallery! I particularly like the shot of Izzy and her groom at the altar getting married!
Enjoy the new photos, and don’t forget to leave a comment if you like the updates
• Candids > 2009 – January 5th, Sydney x4
• Candids > 2008 – August 12th, Los Angeles x10
• Candids > Unknown Date [1] x2 more
• Daybreakers > On the set – Misc. x1 more
• The Wedding Party > Stills x2

Kin has had its name changed to The Wedding Party, and it has been announced that it will open the Melbourne International Film Festival next month. Three new articles have new quotes and details about the film, although unfortunately nothing from/much about Isabel. Confirmation is given that Isabel will be back in Australia next month for the premiere of the film though!
The Wedding Party to open MIFF
Amanda Jane’s comedy The Wedding Party (previously known as Kin) will open this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival.
“We had the title in the back of our minds for a lonn time, as an alternative title. We decided to change it because the film is entertaining, fun, and we wanted a title that suited those aspects more. It’s full of music, a fantastic cast and great comic actors,” writer/director Amanda Jane told Encore.
Produced by Nicole Minchin (ABC TV’s Lowdown), The Wedding Party received support from the MIFF Premiere Fund.
The film is set for distribution by Arkles Entertainment. When the company shut down its New Zealand operation in early March, MD John Davies told Encore that “Arkles Australia remains and goes on, and The Wedding Party is still contracted with us. We are in the market for a partner on it”. Encore understands negotiations are still taking place.
