Support Sea Shepherd

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.

Sea Shepherd could not think of a more brave, passionate and dedicated activist and friend of the whales, than Isabel Lucas, also known for her role in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Isabel has stepped up for duty for the oceans numerous times, including raising international awareness by attempting to stop annual slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan in 2007.

Isabel Quoted
"I find it tricky to make plans. I go by intuition. Work-wise, that means asking myself if a role will push me outside my comfort zone, challenge me to learn something new. It's [all down to] instinct and gut. "

Another new TV spot for Immortals has been released, although again no Isabel, but a good watch never-the-less.

What does feature our Miss Lucas, however, is an absolutely gorgeous new HQ still from the movie! It’s a beautiful shot. Head on over to the official Immortals Facebook page to see more new stills from the film featuring the other characters.

EDIT: Make that 2 new stills of Isabel as Athena! Moviefone have also posted a new still of her, in an intense-looking scene with Luke Evans who plays Zeus.

Another new Immortals TV Spot has popped up, and although I can’t see our Izzy in it, it does have some other new shots in it.

Props to LukeEvans_News on Twitter for the heads-up on this!

A new Immortals featurette has been released today! View it below or at MTV.com. Unfortunately, though, as it is from MTV only those in the US can view it … and as a result I can’t tell you whether it features anything of Athena. Hopefully the video will turn up elsewhere online for those of us outside the US to watch. If you find a link where everyone can watch this then please let us know!

A couple of new TV spots for Immortals have been released recently, and the 2nd one includes a very brief new shot of Athena! Thanks to LukeEvans_News for the heads-up on these. Screencaps from the brief Athena scene have been added to the Gallery.

Check out the first TV spot – ‘Gods And Titans’ – here if you missed it before (or just want to enjoy again!).

Only 1 month to go til the full movie now…

The TransparentSea crew are releasing videos from their voyage, and Part 1 is up for us to watch now. I think I spotted a few glimpses of Izzy in there!

Isabel is taking part in another ocean-related charity initiative – read more below, and then check out the official site for the project. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for a video featuring interviews with some of those involved and check out our Gallery in a few minutes for a couple of pictures!

A group of environmental activists led by Australian professional free-surfer Dave Rastovich (31, Byron Bay, NSW) set to sea north of Santa Barbara yesterday (Oct 1st) on a one-month voyage to the USA-Mexico boarder. Called “TransparentSea” the environmental initiative aims to highlight local coastal issues and the plight of marine mammals.

During the 260-mile (418-kilometer) odyssey the group will be joined by like-minded individuals and a rotating roster of special guests as they kayak and surf their way south, making more than 20 stops to engage communities and draw awareness to key issues.

Among those on the first leg from Gaviota Pier to El Capitan (in Santa Barbara County) were Australian actress Isabel Lucas and her singer-songwriter boyfriend Angus Stone.

Before the 18ft twin-seat Hobie kayaks were placed in the water for their maiden voyage, a beach-clean was undertaken in conjunction with the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Chairman, Sandy Lejeune, was on hand to represent the Foundation in the region he is fighting to protect from development – the Gaviota Coast is home to the last remaining 20-mile stretch of undeveloped rural coastline in Southern California.

As ASOS’s Marina told us, the behind the scenes video of Isabel’s shoot for ASOS magazine is online for us today! The digital version of the magazine is also available. Unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to embed the video, but you can view it at their site by clicking the link below.

I’ll be adding screencaps from the video to our Gallery later today.

The Protect our Coral Sea campaign has released a new video to remind people to sign their petition. There is no new footage of Isabel (just a snippet from her Coral Sea Love video), but I thought I’d post it anyway, knowing how important it is to Isabel. You know where to go to find out more information and sign the petition!

To commemorate Threatened Species Day on 7 September, the Protect our Coral Sea campaign has released a supporter’s video — you can listen to Ambassadors John Williamson, Tim Winton, Jesse Martin, Pat Rafter, Kristy Hinze, Isabel Lucas and Akira Isogawa as well as hear from everyday Australians calling for a highly protected, very large marine park in Australia’s Coral Sea.

The Coral Sea is a tropical marine jewel which lies east of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It’s one of the last places on Earth where large marine animals can still be found in great numbers.

Yet less than 1% of this Serengeti of the Seas is protected.

Right now the federal government is considering the future of the Coral Sea within Australian waters.

Help protect our Coral Sea and make the Coral Sea a safe haven for marine life. Email you federal MP; it takes less than 20 seconds! Go to www.protectourcoralsea.org.au

I’ve just stumbled across another interview from the red carpet of the recent Minds In The Water premiere. Isabel and Hannah Fraser chat about how they got involved with the project, their paddle-out in Taiji, how their experience with these charities changes them, and then Isabel briefly mentions her upcoming projects. Have a watch:
