Red Dawn star Isabel Lucas still has a soft spot for her ex Adrian Grenier and hopes to meet him for spot of tea in her old stomping ground.

By coincidence, the Australian actress and her old flame are both in Melbourne, where she is attending the city’s film festival and he is promoting his new documentary Teenage Paparazzo.

Lucas, who appeared in the second Transformers movie, said she was hoping to meet Entourage star Grenier “for tea”, though whether she meant a cuppa or a dinner wasn’t clear.

She told Channel 7′s Sunrise program: “He’s really excited about Teenage Paparazzo. I hope we can meet up for tea. I have seen edits of his movie from about two years ago but I haven’t seen the final cut. I’m looking forward to seeing it.”

Talking about actors being celebrities, the LA-based actress said: “I don’t really get involved in that. I just keep myself separate from that side. I don’t go out a lot. Yes, there will be a lot of speculation and it makes for an unusual situation.”

Religious and moral worlds clash in a visual feast.

The Waiting City is about an Australian couple, played by Radha Mitchell and Joel Edgerton, who go to India to adopt a child. Once in Kolkata, the adoption agency puts them on hold, hence the title, but there’s another idea. Fiona (Mitchell) has waited to have a child while she pursues a legal career. Though the reason for adoption is not quite clear, the inference is that they are paying a price for her ambition. Fiona gets a thorough going-over here as a modern woman, part of the film’s overall prosecution of arrogant Western values.

This is the second feature of Claire McCarthy, after Cross Life (2007). She knows something about the adoption business. She and her sister, Helena, volunteered with Mother Teresa’s nuns in 2002, where she met many Western couples waiting to adopt. McCarthy’s documentary, Sisters in Calcutta, aired on the ABC in 2008. The Waiting City opens out from these experiences into an ambitious and confronting film with spiritual as well as political overtones.

It is said to be the first Australian feature shot entirely in India and that gives a sense of immersion – quite literally in a couple of scenes to do with the Ganges. It would be hard to avoid confrontations of many kinds while shooting in India but it’s another thing to catch them on film. McCarthy does that well: she shoots on the streets, at food stalls, within the lively shops of Kolkata, in tiny alleys where bewildering crowds come and go in seconds bearing religious statues on parade. Many films by Westerners tend to do places like Kolkata from high vantage points, possibly to avoid creating more chaos with cameras on the streets, but this one embraces the chaos, at least when the couple venture out of their five-star hotel.

I’m continuing to work on updating and completing the content of the site, and have been working hard the past couple of days ;)

I’ve updated and finished the Filmography pages for The Pacific and Home & Away. Lots of new quotes, trivia and information have been added to them, and I’ve spent a lot of time gathering all this info from various interviews, including transcribing video and magazine scan interviews. On the Home & Away page I still need to write the Major Storylines, Relationships, and Character Information pages, but they will take a while and will start to be built up soon and over a period of time.

The pages for The Wedding Party and The Waiting City have also been updated with a few new links, quotes and details that have come from recent news articles about the films. I just need to finish the Adverts and Documentaries pages then the Filmography will be complete!

I also came across a new interview which I have added to our Press page. The Rumoured Roles page (with Rights Revoked), Trivia, Quotes and Favourites pages have been updated too.

And finally, guess who has finally found a HQ version of one of The Pacific stills!? Yep, after much searching since the series was promoted and premiered, I’ve finally been able to find a HQ version of one of the two stills we have, so have updated the pic in the Gallery with this larger one.

The Waiting City is released in Australia in a couple of days time, and there has been lots of promotion for the film, although sadly Isabel has not been involved. The Official Facebook page has all the info if you’re interested.

The Official Site for the film has also been opened, and, among other things, has a massive gallery with some stunning stills from the film. There are 3 new shots of Isabel in there, which you can also view in our Gallery now.

Finally, a series of behind the scenes videos have been posted on the film’s Facebook page and the 8th one features scenes plus an interview with our Izzy! View it below, and screencaps are in our Gallery now too.

Nothing new on Isabel, but an interesting read anyway!

The Waiting City: Australia goes to India
Director Claire McCarthy and producer Jamie Hilton have made a film with an Australian heart and dressed up in a colourful sari, taking our cinema to a new land full of creative and business opportunities. Miguel Gonzalez reports.

The Waiting City tells the story of an Australian couple who arrive in Calcutta, India, to pick up the girl they have adopted. Unaware that local bureaucracy will force them to wait for days before they can see her for the first time, the stress of waiting, amplified by the culture shock, will test their relationship as they are forced to confront the problems they’ve been avoiding for a long time.

It is not based on a true story, but many that writer/director Claire McCarthy witnessed as she built her own relationship with India.

– Nothing for Isabel (her part was tiny), but congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Pacific for their well deserved nominations for such an incredible series. Here’s hoping they pick up some gold come Emmy day on August 29th. Find the full list of Emmy nominations here.

“Glee,” the spunky TV musical comedy about high school misfits and the teachers who shepherd them, was a top Emmy nominee Thursday with 19 bids, including for best comedy series and stars Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele.

The leading nominee was the gritty, unsparing World War II drama, “The Pacific,” with 24 nominations.

Conan O’Brien is gone from “The Tonight Show” but his short tenure as host is not forgotten: The late-night show with him at the helm nabbed a nomination as best variety, music or comedy series, while resurrected Jay Leno was snubbed in the category.

Besides “Glee,” other newcomers receiving Emmy recognition include “Modern Family,” with nods for best comedy series and for five members of its ensemble cast, and “The Good Wife,” a nominee for best drama and recognition for star Julianna Margulies.

The final season of “Lost” garnered nominations for best drama series and a nod for star Matthew Fox and supporting nominations for Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson.

“Saturday Night Live” received 12 nominations for a total 126 nominations during its run, surpassing the “ER” all-time record of 124 bids. One of the nominations went to Betty White, who at 88 proved you’re never too old for comedy.

We have new candids of Izzy! She was photographed at LAX Airport in Los Angeles yesterday, and she looked pretty in a little dress and trademark headband. She even stopped to sign autographs for a few fans, and had a nice big smile for the photographers! I’ve added 17 photos to the Gallery for you.

I’ve also been doing some small content updates – I’ve added a couple of new/old interviews to the Press page as well as some more Quotes (by Isabel, at the bottom of that section). I’ve started work on the Charities page by adding info on Isabel’s involvement with Oz Quest and Earth Hour, although I’m sure more will be added to those parts, and of course the rest of that section will be written up shortly. I’ve also discovered Isabel did some adverts for Aussie accessories brand Diva back in 2005, so I’ve updated the Filmography page with that, and added some info to our Adverts page.

More Charities and Filmography updates coming soon!

Today I have added screencaps from Izzy’s most recent film release, Daybreakers, in which she plays Alison Bromley. I was fully intending to cap it myself, but then discovered that my lovely friend Maria could make me screencaps in a better quality, so she has capped the movie for us. I’ll still be renting the DVD myself to check for any extras featuring Miss Lucas, and I’ll do that within the next few weeks. As you can tell by the number of screencaps, it seems that Izzy’s role is very small in the movie! Please note, these screencaps contain major spoilers as well as what you might consider gory images. If you do not want to be spoiled, or if you don’t like blood, then do not view these screencaps! You have been warned ;)

Enjoy!!
