This is a surprise! After months of no new candids, we have new ones two days in a row! Today photos of Isabel going through LAX Airport in LA have popped up, and I’ve added HQs to our Gallery. As you can see, Isabel has dyed her hair a lighter brown/blonde colour and it looks like it might be a bit shorter too. What do you think her of her new hairstyle? Leave a comment if you like, and enjoy the new photos • 2010 – April 21st, Los Angeles x10 |

They call it the Sausage Factory. A low, sprawling storeroom strung with rows of army fatigues. Many are bloodstained; some earmarked as ‘dead’ costumes (as in, for dressing ‘dead’ soldiers). Quite a few have holes, where a prosthetic bone might protrude. A stroll around the costume department of the HBO, DreamWorks and Playtone produced miniseries The Pacific is enough to know that it is going to be an epic, gruesome affair. The 10-part series – estimated to have a production budget of between $US150 million and $US200 million – offers an unflinching look at the US Marine Corps’ campaign against the Japanese on islands in the Pacific during World War II. It makes a bleak companion to HBO’s groundbreaking 2001 series Band of Brothers and once again marks the return of Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks as executive producers. “This is the other side of the conversation,” The Pacific historical consultant Paul Ambrose tells INSIDEFILM. “Band was true, but this is also true.” The series centres on three Marines: Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale), Eugene Sledge (Joseph Mazzello) and Sid Philips (Ashton Holmes) and also showcases a wide variety of local talent such as Isabel Lucas, Bill Hunter and Gary Sweet. It is based on the memoirs of the real Leckie (Helmet for My Pillow) and Sledge (With the Old Breed), books that Ambrose describes as “required reading” for study of the Pacific war. Philips, who was written about in both books, provides a connecting thread for the intertwining stories. |

Relativity Media announced today that Immortals will be the official title of its Greek mythology tale previously called War of Gods. The highly anticipated Immortals follows the mythological tale of the young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind. Tarsem Singh directs the film that began shooting in Montreal this week. It was also announced that John Hurt and Isabel Lucas have joined Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Freida Pinto and Mickey Rourke in the cast. Hurt will portray the earthly manifestation of the god Zeus, who acts as a mentor and teacher to the young warrior Theseus (Cavill). Isabel Lucas was brought onto Immortals as Athena, the daughter of Zeus who finds her loyalty tested as the war between the gods and Titans looms. Distributed by Universal Pictures, Immortals will be produced by 300 partners Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang Productions, Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment MM and Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity Media. Jason Keller penned the most recent draft of the script. An earlier version was written by Christian Gudegast, based on an original screenplay by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. Hurt recently completed director Rowan Joffe’s Brighton Rock, opposite Helen Mirren. Last year, he was seen reprising his role as Quentin Crisp in An Englishman in New York, as well as appearing with Ray Winstone and Tom Wilkinson in 44 Inch Chest. The actor recently wrapped his role in the next installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. Hurt is represented by John Crosby, ICM and Independent Talent. Lucas recently starred in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Daybreakers. She will soon star in Red Dawn and recently wrapped production on the Australian films Kin and A Heartbeat Away. The actress is represented by UTA and Meissner Management. Universal Pictures has set a November 11, 2011, release date for Immortals. |

A couple of sites are mentioning that Isabel has been cast in the Greek-myth inspired Dawn Of War. As one of the confirmed cast has named her directly, her involvement seems quite likely, but as always, we’ll look out for official confirmation and any further news will of course be posted about here for you!

As promised (albeit slightly later) I’ve added screencaps of Isabel in Sunday’s episode of The Pacific. Isabel only had a small role and therefore didn’t have much to do, but she was really great in her scenes. Her character, Gwen, was the girlfriend of the marine Sid Phillips, and they were seen being chaperoned by Gwen’s grandfather on a date and later having a picnic in a park together. Whilst at the park, Sid was recalled to duty, so he and Gwen went to spend one last night together. At the end of the episode, Gwen is seen on shore waving off Sid as he leaves to continue the battle in the Pacific. This is Isabel’s most grown-up role to date, and in my opinion she played Gwen beautifully. Plus she looked gorgeous – that 1940′s make-up and hair suit her! Based on the story, I’m guessing she will only be in this one episode, but I will keep checking each week and if she re-appears be sure you will find out here. Enjoy the screencaps • The Pacific > Screencaptures: Episode 3 x209 |

Thanks to Amanda for an alert about the MTV Movie Awards – Isabel is nominated in two categories!
Sadly nothing for Best Villain or Best Ass-Kicking Star though Confusingly, this is only a nomination for a nomination, in that you have to vote now and those with the most votes will go on to be the final five main nominees in each category. Make sense?! Either way, vote vote vote!! |
